History

The Graduate Student Council formally began in 1994 as a response to rising concerns from graduate students about the lack of a graduate voice on the campus. Many graduate students in the early 1990s were concerned over rising tuition and fees, parking, and advisor relations. Some felt that their voice and experiences (which in many ways is different from their undergraduate counterparts) were not being articulated to the University Administration.
